Companion Tóng Tï Re-Assigned, Post 3 of 5: Relaxing Tea as Cargo’s Unloaded

Having checked flight details in boarding the shuttle then greeted other passengers, am informed there will be a detour due to some important cargo needing to be dropped off.

Happy enough in this arriving at the detour stop whilst the cargo is unloaded, find a rest room to freshen up and change. Wandering after, come across the lovely Boai Honglian tea and incense shop, so relax and enjoy a delicious cup of tea.…

Companion Tóng Tï Re-Assigned, Post 2 of 5: Calming Fountain Water of Departure

My com beeping informing of shuttle arrival, I pick up my case and walk through the house. Looking around I smile in passing through the rooms, before opening the door to wander through the park.

The early morning light shimmers through the water of the fountain in the calmness, as I notice the spot where so often peace was found taking time for tai chi.

Taking a breath stride forward, leaving a far better occasion than the arrival :)…

Companion Tóng Tï Re-Assigned, Post 1 of 5: Reflections of Fenghuang House

With travel documents in hand, but only with knowledge the shuttle I’m to board will soon be here, I pack my case and stand back to reflect, memories of chatter, laughter, togetherness filling my mind.

Looking at my bunk and those of the other acolytes here suddenly gasp, noticing under my pillow something special that always travels with me, so snuck it in before locking my case to make my way.…

Inspiring games - which do you play?

Okami game is on Steam - I really recommend this brush-stroke based game based on the adventures of the Japanese Sun Goddess Amaterasu! It's such a great game for all ages and at the same time is intimacy and 'normal life' positive, its explores myth, Japanese culture and the life of rural people. Even has ecology and fighting for good at it's root!…

Great song about a Lady trying to hide her light.. under a bushel? We know she has a greater destiny!

Whenever she's feeling empty

Whenever she's feeling insecure

Whenever her face is frozen

Unable to fake it anymore
Her shadow is always with her

Her shadow could always keep her small

So frightened that he won't love her

She builds up a wall
Oh no, she knows where to hide in the…

Strange and unusual cultures (and languages) MANGA

As Companions we may often find ourselves on planets or experiencing cultures... Even as we are disorientated, diplomacy will be at the top of our goals in order to establish the best for both ourselves and others (possibly our potential clients or their friends). It's not an easy path taking our first steps in this ((but also a really interesting perspective and path for roleplay and establishing our character)).

I discovered this Manga which could be fun to read to pass the time and…

Abuse and Recovery

I know that some of our members are surviors of abuse and I found a good online course and advice for those who have. I is hard opening your heart when past relationships have been bad or even abusive.. I want to praise people who are able to continue to do self development whilst carrying such wounds. Clients too can have suffered in these ways so awareness and kindness to the self can spread for everyone's benefit xx…

The Dakini Hunt (Pt. 2) (IC)

My tai chi practice on the beach was disturbed by rumbling deep underground. I froze. Maybe just a small earthquake, but more likely this was a taste of things to come. Dakini was reclaiming its privacy, whether I was ready or not. I packed my yukata into a small backpack and headed east along the coast.

Soon I came across the Guild's gazebo, flickering images of active Companions illuminating the interior. I glanced at my own intensely goofy portrait (alongside the exotic…

The Dakini Hunt (Pt. 1) (IC)

I opened my eyes. For a minute, I'm confused. The stone ceiling of my room in Iqisray Khait is gone. The ceiling resembles tatami, only larger, and a sprinkle of dirt is falling down on me, tickling my nose. I sit up straight, my eyes adjusting to the dim light. At least my potted plant Bob is still there by my feet. Hi Bob.

Why was I here again, at the Dakini Land retreat? I rubbed my head, and pulled on the pants crumpled at the foot of my cot. I had slept in the shirt I'd worn on…

Some thoughts as this term comes to a close

What a wonderful term this has been!  i am very honored to have graduated to Registered Companion, and to have been asked to assume the duties of House Companion at Jichiren House.  Looking back, it seems like a long time in some ways since i submitted my application, but in other ways, it seems very short.  i would never have gotten to where i am without the love and support of my Guild family... the Priestesses, the other Companions, the many acolytes i have been privileged to get to know,…

A 'wicked woman' defends her right to be free and beautiful (from early 17th Century text Don Quixote)

Marcela is attending the funeral of a man who died of lovesickness for her.. having found his love to be unrequited...

"I come not, Ambrosia for any of the purposes thou hast named," replied Marcela, "but to defend myself and to prove how unreasonable are all those who blame me for their sorrow and for Chrysostom's death; and therefore I ask all of you that are here to give me your attention, for will not take much time or many words to bring the truth home to persons of…

End of Term Reflections

As we approach the end of another term, i find myself looking back once more on what has transpired during my time with the Guild.  It has now been 15 months since i joined, and during that time i have experienced a great deal of personal growth, have met many whom i have grown to love and cherish, and most importantly have found a home and family.

i recall when i first joined, having no idea what the Guild was and thinking i was applying for an Eisa RP group.  There were three people…

Thoughts On My Third Term with the Guild

As my third term with the Guild comes to an end, i thought i would once again put down some thoughts about my experiences so far.  If you had read my previous blog entry, you will know that i was still learning to adjust.  This term was much better.  I felt quite at home, with established relationships and a higher level of confidence.

Because i was now a Flamingo acolyte, my focus turned to teaching.  As i have experience as an instructor in RL, this was not as scary a…

On Being Transgender: My Advantage as a Companion in Second Life

“…I Tiresias, though blind, throbbing between two lives,

Old man with wrinkled female breasts…”

T.S. Eliot, “The Waste Land”

“I’ve looked at life from both sides now

From up and down, and still somehow

It’s life’s illusions I recall…

On Being a Companion: One Woman's Reasons

My thoughts on being a companion are complex, and sometimes self-contradicting. For example, when someone in SL asks me why I chose to become a companion, I’m often tempted to say, “If you’ve never seen Firefly or Serenity, you wouldn’t understand. And if you have seen either of them, there’s no need for explanation.”

Still, much like vampires, gays, or lesbians(1), we in the Firefly ‘Verse are always looking to recruit new members. And so I offer my own reasons—reasons which are…

Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself...

I'm a man of wealth and taste. No, scratch that. I have NO sympathy for the devil. So let me start over.

I have spent most of my life exploring the 'Verse. I have spent time on Earth, where I learned of the existence of racism, xenophobia, and several other unpleasant social traits. I have always been a peacemaker, as are most of my race, but even the most dedicated diplomat knows when it is time to move on.

I have visited countless planetary systems, and have learned…

A First Step

"Joining the Companions was to [Teran] a dream and a last resort rolled into one, as he sought acceptance and sanctuary. To his delight and mine, the community has been immediately welcoming."

Being accepted into the Guild has felt almost like a last-minute rescue from the jaws of crippling failure. Eleven weeks into a fourteen week semester and I have finally found a…

Feeling the Love

I can not help but smile and be grateful that the stars aligned to introduce the guild to me at this transitional point in my life. I have never been hugged so much in my life. The energy changes in the room once it is filled with all of these beautiful people trying to spread love through the verse. It's like they force love down your throat whether you like it or not. …
