Some Thoughts on my Time With the Guild

i am tyer Anbinder, currently a Peacock acolyte with Jichiren House, and have been with the Companion's Guild since September of last year. i thought i would provide some thoughts on my time with the Guild so far.

i came upon the Guild by accident. i was a recently released Owned sub of many years, seeking a fresh experience with my newfound freedom, and i happened upon Nanite Systems at Eisa, undergoing conversion to a gynoid unit. While exploring the NS store, i came upon the application booth for Jichiren House, and applied thinking it was an extension of NS Systems (this seems to be common).

i was accepted, and shortly thereafter introduced to my Jiejie Astra. i cannot say enough about the wonderful job she did explaining the Guild, showing me around, and letting me know what to expect. i had never heard of the Companion's Guild, had never seen Firefly or Serenity, and really had no concept of what it was about. Jiejie Astra helped me get a grasp on the general concept. She then showed me around the other Companion Houses, and we spent some time bathing at Spirit Bath House, where i met Companion Beeflin for the first time.

It was now decision time for me. The Guild was not the "immersive android experience" i had thought it would be, but it had its strong points. First and foremost, i liked the people. i had since met Companion (then Phoenix acolyte) Flynt and Gege Duke at Jichiren House, and attended one or two gatherings. i was a bit shy at the gatherings, as i did not know anyone, but everyone was friendly, and i could see the cameraderie between the members. Secondly, there was no pressure. It was made clear that i could attend classes and gatherings when i wished, and according to my own desires. And third, i liked that there was a defined progression through the acolyte ranks, based entirely on my level of personal involvement. i liked the idea of belonging to a cohesive group with the only pressure to perform coming from myself, and therefore decided to commit myself, with the knowledge that it would be a long-term commitment.

When i commit myself to something, i take it seriously. my goal as a new Companion Acolyte was to attend as many classes and gatherings as i could. This was not for the purpose of "checking the boxes", but to attempt to gather new knowledge and to actively participate. i also find that it is easier to get to know others when they can see something of you, and by actively participating, asking questions, and responding to questions asked, and otherwise involving myself, others would have a better image of who i am rather than if i were simply silent and hiding in a corner. Scheduling was my biggest problem, as i am US eastern time, and many of the classes and gatherings are held midweek when i am working and unavailable. However, i was able to find some classes on weekends, and one in the evening. i found these to be interesting and informative.

My favorite gatherings have been the large group affairs, in particular the Fire Ceremonies, where many of the Guild gather together. These provide a great opportunity for meeting others and getting to know them. The other was the Grading Ceremony at the end of my first term, where i was completely shocked and incredibly honored to have been elevated to Peacock acolyte.

This term, my second, has brought more responsibility, but also a higher level of confidence and a much better understanding of the Guild itself. i was happy to be able to assist with several of the classes, helping with the setup and taking the attendance. i have now watched the entire Firefly series, as well as the Serenity movie. i have requested and attended tea ceremonies with a number of the Companions, which i find is a wonderful way to get to know them, and also gain a better understanding of what it is to be a Registered Companion. Also, i have been gifted with six new meimeis this term, and have tried my best to get them interested and involved in the Guild activities. Unfortunately, only one of the six has taken an active interest in attending classes and events, although i continue to encourage them all. i attribute this to the same thing i encountered upon joining... we did not meet their expectations. Jichiren is still a very new House, and quite unique in that the acolytes are primarily NS android units. It has a lot of potential for growth over time, and i am looking forward to seeing it grow and adapt to better meet the needs and expectations of incoming acolytes, and to help contribute to that.

The Guild recently participated in the SciFi Con, and i spent a good amount of time there. Although there were only a few who stopped to ask questions, i found it a great place to see other Guild members and have the opportunity to talk with them. i was honored to have the opportunity to spend some time talking with the High Priestess during this event.

Did you notice that i have not mentioned sex at all? Something to ponder, as on the surface the Guild is based on the concept of the high-level courtesan. To me, however, the Guild is more about connecting with others, and yes, this may involve sex at times, but i think it is more about bringing people together.

i have rambled enough. There are still many members of the Guild that i have not had the opportunity to meet, and i hope to remedy that as time goes by. Feel free to blind IM me at any time. i would be happy to chat.
