Thoughts On My Third Term with the Guild

As my third term with the Guild comes to an end, i thought i would once again put down some thoughts about my experiences so far.  If you had read my previous blog entry, you will know that i was still learning to adjust.  This term was much better.  I felt quite at home, with established relationships and a higher level of confidence.

Because i was now a Flamingo acolyte, my focus turned to teaching.  As i have experience as an instructor in RL, this was not as scary a proposition as it might me for some others.  i selected a couple of classes that i felt i could easily handle, tweaked the scripts minimally to make them current, and scheduled them.  Practice was essential, as it would reveal errors that i had overlooked, and gave me a feel of what the presentation would be like from the student's perspective.  my sister Flamingo, CherylAnne, helped me greatly in my class preparations, and in the process became a close friend. Toward the latter part of the term, i found that AVsitter had been made open source, and put my own class together introducing some of the features.  The class has been quite successful and i am quite proud of it.

As with the previous term, Jichiren was suddenly inundated with a large number of new acolytes starting at about the middle of the term.  Unlike last term, however, i had learned to expect that many would not stay, and did not feel personally responsible for their departures when it happened.  The Guild is not for everyone. Several of the new acolytes took an active interest in Guild, but even among those several were pulled away due to RL contingencies or complications.  One has remained very active, and i am looking forward to her being elevated to Peacock next term.

i also had the honor of spending some time with the High Priestess this term, having the opportunity to gain insight from Her, something for which i am extremely grateful.

As this term comes to an end, i am looking forward to new adventures next term, hopefully as a Phoenix acolyte this time.

Love to all of my brothers and sisters,

tyer
