Some thoughts as this term comes to a close

What a wonderful term this has been!  i am very honored to have graduated to Registered Companion, and to have been asked to assume the duties of House Companion at Jichiren House.  Looking back, it seems like a long time in some ways since i submitted my application, but in other ways, it seems very short.  i would never have gotten to where i am without the love and support of my Guild family... the Priestesses, the other Companions, the many acolytes i have been privileged to get to know, and especially to the High Priestess.  All of you have helped me along my journey.

For those acolytes who have recently joined, and are looking at the path ahead thinking how long it is, know that it moves quite quickly.  i encourage you to focus on the term you are currently in and set goals accordingly.  The Guild does not require all of your time and attention.  Attend a class every couple of weeks as your time allows, let your meimeis and didis know that you are available to them, and for the more senior levels, plan to teach several classes.

One of the things that made me happiest this term was attending the classes held by our new Flamingos.  They all did a wonderful job, and i am very proud of them all.  i would like to make special mention of Fiona's "Introduction to Chinese" class, which is wonderful for learning how the the names we use all the time (Jiejie, meimei, Gege, didi) are actually pronounced.  Unfortunately, she is likely the only one capable of teaching it. 

This term's Grading Ceremony is only a couple of days away, and as always i am looking forward to seeing who will be donning new robes.  This is probably our largest single gathering of the term, and i look forward to seeing my Guild sisters and brothers there.

In closing, let me just say that being involved in the Companion's Guild, and getting to know and cherish all of the wonderful members, has been and continues to be the most rewarding experience of my Second Life.  i love you all.
