Some little SL joke memes from a bit of a flurry that happened in spring 2012.

A thought-experiment - imagine having lost the sexual parts of your body - can you still be a lover? Of course. Sex is a strongly motivated physical action which is a marvellous channel for expressing love. But that doesn't make it the only channel, or even the only marvellous one.

This may be of some, slight, interest to folks around these parts...

woohoo!

And something a bit more direct in regards to my earlier post. A place to keep up with the shiny.

:-)

Bit disappointed that I can't see any reference to Companion stuff. To me it is mainly the female element brought to light by our feminist writer Joss that makes Firefly special. We have all seen cool spaceships, tech and living on the edge before... but maybe relating to others in a 'how are you love, would you like a cuppa' level is under the radar scope of 'big dam heroes' these days.. *ponders*

You're likely right, Mother. Most of the folk who will end up playing the game will want to be the 'big damn hero' as is the case in most games. But games have a way of turning into things other than what their creators first imagined. Especially online games with social elements. There is supposed to be crafting in this game, and I suspect there will also be trading between players as well as the player-designed missions the article spoke of. So...who's to say there won't, or can't, be companions?

Now there's an intriguing thought. A companion as captain of a ship in Firefly Online. Violence as the absolute last course of action; relying heavily on negotiation and other social skills instead.

That could make it worth trying out just for the challenge that scenario creates, don't you think?

Hmm, that sounds like my kind of strategy...

That's my kind of rebellion! ^^

I definitely like the idea of being able to talk and negotiate in this game.

I thought this was an interesting exploration and discussion of activities organised for adults..
